Can you put diesel in a kerosene heater?

Wednesday, September 29th, 2010
Conor C. asked:

Our home heating system runs on Kerosene. That has now run out, and I have several Jerry tanks of red diesel sitting in the garage and no use for them. Would it be possible to put the diesel in my heating tank and to get heat out of it? Diesel is a bit heaver (28 sec to 32, I think) , and kerosene is cleaner.

Would it work? Thanks.
