The good air quality id like to suggest what did in thermostat its fairly easy to suggest what did in that.

Most states have a law forbidding the use of a unvented heater in a bedroom or bathroom. All fuels except electricty produce co when burned so heaters should be vented outside. You could install a direct vent propane space heater in your daughters room reasonbly because your already using propane in rest of house.
