Our older gas oven smells like burning gas (like a kerosene heater smell)?

Does anyone know what it could be or how it can be fixed? We have a little baby in the house and are not using it due to that. It doesn’t have that strong natural gas smell, it smell more like the burnoff smell of a kerosene heater. Please Help!
