I recently received a large amount of kerosene from a friend for free. But it’s the red kind, I have been told several times to not use it that it stinks, But is that the only reason, Is there anythign serious I should be worried about by using the red type kerosene?

  • I bought a used corona 17-dk kerosene heater. Each time I start it, it emits thick black smoke. What gives?

    1. Barry Says:

you can use that kerosene with no problems, the red is a dye that is added to regulate use,(tax free such as farm or off road uses) but wont hurt anything,(diesel is treated this way also) good luck

    2. Just guessing Says:

High sulfur content is why it stinks. Make sure that you have adequate venting. You don’t want this stuff in a stand alone heater in your house. You don’t want to be breathing this crap.
